Metadata Time Stamp

Frequently Asked Questions

Question:
How is the timestamp in the metadata assigned?

Answer:
Every 5 seconds, when we are not exposing, we call FPROCtrl_GetGPSState to see if there is a GPS unit attached and if so, what is its state. This function can return 0 – Not Detected, 1 – Detected but not Locked, 2 – Detected and Locked. When it is not detected (0) or detected and not locked (1), the metadata on every image will have a Capture Date earlier than 2018. When Pilot sees that this is the case we take the computer time and insert it back into the metadata. The Latitude and Longitude will also be 0.  However, if the GPS is Detected and Locked (2), then the metadata is populated with the date and time stamp passed from the GPS.
